Bowls Program

Our bowls program provides bowling opportunities for everyone. Our bowls program provides competitive as well as social games throughout the year.



TOURNAMENTS 

The Club runs several regular monthly bowls tournaments from September to April each year. These sponsored open events include the

  • First Monday Triples
  • Second Monday Triples
  • Second Wednesday Triples
  • Fourth Monday Triples and
  • Fourth Wednesday Pairs event, and
  • Tuesday Night Tournament

Bowlers from any club may enter teams for these events by contacting the manager for the respective event. Bowlers participating in any of these events are strongly advised to arrive at the club at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement times. Skips are responsible for their teams.  Contact the relevant tournament manager for any information.

First Monday Triples

The First Monday Triples is a two bowl triples event consisting of two games of 15 ends commencing at 12:30pm. Put your name down on the list at the Club House.

Second Monday Triples

The Second Monday Triples is a two bowl triples event consisting of a game of 13 ends and another of 15ends commencing at 12:30pm.

The Manager for this event is Peter Demeris who can be contacted on 0407 351 495

Second Wednesday Triples

This event consist of three games of 13 ends.This two bowl triples event commences at 10:30am with a lunch break midway through the second game.

This popular event is managed by Robert Bateup and he can be contacted on 0419 439 706.

Fourth Monday Triples

This two bowl triples event commences at 12:30pm. Two games of 14 ends each.

      This event is managed by John Coles who can be contacted on 0419 563 526.

Fourth Wednesday Pairs

This is a four bowl pairs event and takes the 2-2-2-2 format and consists of two games commencing at 10:30am. There is a lunch break after the first game and winners play winners in the second game,

Held on the fourth Wednesday of each month this very popular event is managed by Robert Bateup who can be contacted on 0431 887 067.

Tuesday Night Triples

The TUESDAY night tournament will commence on February 11 2025 for 7 weeks.  It is a NOMINATED 3-3-2 bowls triples event with one game 16 ends being played with one power play end.  Teams are drawn to play a different side each week and the tournament finishes just before day light saving ends.

The Doncaster Classic

The Doncaster Classic, sponsored by the McKenzie Aged Care Group, is the club’s marquee event for the year. It will be held on Sunday 16 March 2025. This is an open fours event and offers very good prize money. Contact Robert Bateup on 0419 439 706 for more details.


SOCIAL BOWLS

The Social Bowls program is run on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer season.

Wednesday Social Bowls

This event is run each Wednesday during summer bowling season with bowls being played at Doncaster. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for new bowlers to get acquainted with other bowlers and to learn about the game in a friendly and convivial environment. It also provides an opportunity for those bowlers who no longer wish to participate in the more competitive lawn bowls environment. The dress code for this event is club uniform or bowls attire and the start time is 9:45am.

Saturday Social Bowls

The Saturday Open Social Bowls program is run at club during the summer bowling season and commences at 1pm.  This event is ideal for those who no longer wish to play Saturday pennant and also for those who are relatively new to the game of lawn bowls.

The Wednesday and Saturday Social Bowls program are managed by Phil Rock. Club uniform or bowls attire please.

WINTER BOWLS

In the winter months from May to July, outdoor bowls events are played on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons commencing at 12 noon. It is usually a nominated two bowl triples event and is open to all bowlers. Good prize money and jackpots are available for this event. Contact: Robert Bateup or Peter Demeris.


CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Bowls Committee is responsible for the administration of the various Club Championships. Peter Demeris is the Club Championship co-ordinator for season 2024/25.

The following club championship events will be run this season. Bowlers are strongly encouraged to participate in these championship events.

Neat casual attire is acceptable for club championship events. HOWEVER, CLUB UNIFORM must be worn by all players and markers for all club finals.

If a player is more than 30 minutes late for a game then the outcome will be a forfeit. Deadlines must be strictly adhered to.
