CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS
The Ladies from the Social Committee organised a fun evening with competitions, a quiz, lucky seats, a visit from Santa, a story book reading, the drawing of the hampers and a grazing table with so much food to share. Fifty five members and friends enjoyed this all for an entrance fee of $10.
The tables were set with a Xmas theme and there was a small spray perfume gift at every place.( Thankyou to whoever provided these, I will update when I discover who.)
First up three lucky people found orange stickers on the back of their chair.
Next came the winner of the “ guess how many baubles” in the long vase. Fortytwo was the correct number, Kay Golding with 44 was the closest.
What was going on? Guess the lucky square was now won by Ian Golding. It was the Golding’s night because…… “wait there is more!”
Beth read out the questions for a Christmas quiz, it was hands up, no calling out with the answer. Lots of chocolate balls were won as prizes.
It is the Club’s 75th Anniversary this year and Angoves Wines donated chocolates and a box of various wines. Trevor Dawson won the chocolates and
John Young won the box of Angoves wines.
Antonio Cuce won the whiskey because his birthday was closest to Xmas Day.
Chris Scane entertained us with a modern storybook reading.
In between we went back and forth from the bountiful grazing table and ordered drinks from the bar.
Christmas music was played , then with the ringing of his bell Santa arrived swaying to a dance routine. He had a lolly bag, the contents were thrown here and there towards the tables.
Santa’s main task was to draw out the winning tickets for the magnificent Xmas hampers.
The winners were;
1. Diane Dubbledam. 2. Bill Allibon. 3. Laurie Hogan. 4. Keith Kilner. 5. Kay Golding ( I said there was more, it was their lucky night 👍). 6. Geoff Allen. 7 Jon-Paul (JP) Gauthier.
Thanks goes to all the Ladies on the social committee for working through the changes, for Beth Reid the effervescent MC, for Ian Golding standing behind the bar all evening, and for John Thorburn for the camera work. It was an enjoyable and successful Club Christmas.
