CLUB SINGLES CHAMPIONS – Doncaster Bowling Club
Sunday January 15th 2017.
An expectant crowd of around 60, comprising club members and visitors gathered at the club on a beautiful Sunday evening to witness the men’s and women’s singles finals match.
There to do battle the four finalists, Debbie Code, the reigning singles champion and Elizabeth Reid, last year’s runner up, along with Richard Lovell and Brian Salvage in the men’s final.
Both Elizabeth Reid and Richard Lovell got off to a flying start. Elizabeth led 14-5 early and Richard led 15-4. Brian Salvage staged a fight back of sorts in the latter part of the match. However, club coach Richard Lovell prevailed in the end winning 26-18. The women’s final was a one sided affair this year with Elizabeth Reid playing superbly and winning easily 25-6. So Elizabeth Reid and Richard Lovell are the new club singles champions. Congratulations to our 2016-17 singles champions and also the runners up, Brian Salvage and Debbie Code.
