The members who play indoor bowls in winter maybe much smaller in numbers than 10 years ago, but they still enjoy joining into the Eastern Suburbs group and competing in Ballarat every Queens Birthday long weekend. Mabel and Tony Cuce went this year.

The Eastern Suburbs team came for a practice at Doncaster before heading off for these three days of bowling.

There were seven districts playing and from the photos you can see lots of people ready to start bowling on many mats. Singles, Pairs, Triples and Fours are all played, plus mixed Fours. Overall the winning Association was Heytesbury.

Below is a photo of the Eastern Suburbs group. Even though they didn’t win they obviously enjoyed themselves.

On Friday night there is another competition called the Gil Pegg Cup. This is when the Eastern Suburbs group play the South Group. Host clubs alternate between South Group and Eastern Suburbs. This year it is the Eastern’s turn and the mats are down at Blackburn BC, Blackburn RSL, and Doncaster BC.

Just an update on the Gil Pegg Cup……Eastern Suburbs won by one shot after a nine year drought.
