JOHNS LYNG GROUP SPEND THE DAY AT D.B.C.

The group of 27 employees from Johns Lyng building insurance assessors section spent many happy hours as our guests on Friday 2nd September.

They arrived before noon starting with a few morning drinks, but then noticing that the weather was closing in they decided to have their delicious BBQ lunch early and play bowls later.

Lunch consisted of lamb and beef sausages , spicy chicken tenders and hamburgers , cooked by Brian Garrett and Tim Fewster.

This was accompanied by several different home made salads followed by home made apple crumble with cream and icecream. Some of the hungry guys came back for seconds. Thanks to Elaine Kleinert, Irene Garrett and Lyn Goodman.

About 2-30pm out they went to play barefoot bowls and had a fun time learning the art of the game. Coaches were Peter Hanson, John Thorburn, Peter Caldwell and John Nelson.

In and out they came all afternoon being served by the barmen Geoff Bandy, Tim Fewster and Peter Caldwell.

The atmosphere was great, helped as always by Peter Hanson’s music , this time the 1970’s and 1980’s songs. All who attended agreed that they had had a fun day . At least 20 were still using the bar at 4. 30 pm.

Peter Hanson organised this day superbly, coordinating and supervising all the activities. Well done Peter.!

These days are important to let the community know where we are, what we can offer and for money raising. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their Friday to help.
