LAWN BOWLS IS A PART OF SPORTS EXPO – Doncaster Bowling Club

Doncaster Bowls Club hosted one grade 4 and three grade 6’s as part of Doncaster Primary School’s  Sports Expo. The children had 20 minute lessons from Paul Holtschke who is the Community Development Officer for Metro Melbourne and Geelong for Bowls Australia, and Sean O’ Kane who is the Participation Coordinator for Bowls Vic. The boys and girls used small bowls and learnt about the bias and weight control. They did several exercises  each which became progressively harder. The last being a game of team footy, where the students had to gently bowl through goal and point markers. Richard Lovell showed a ‘Vipers’ T shirt that is worn by the U18 squad, and explained that bowls is not always and only for ‘oldies’.

Thanks to Fran Broadfoot for coordinating this morning with the school, and for all the members that came to help……Lyn
