OAM FOR KATHY REHE
It has been announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for 2021 that Doncaster member Kathy Rehe has been awarded an OAM. This is the Medal of the Order of Australia (General Division). She will receive this medal for services to tennis. Kathy says that she is thrilled and honoured and justifiably her family is delighted and proud.
Even though she has given up competitive tennis she still plays socially once a week at the Doncaster Tennis Club, where she has been a member for over 42 years. Kathy was a member of the Eastern Metropolitan Ladies Tennis Association which is the largest in the Southern Hemisphere catering for over 1600 ladies every Tuesday. Kathy has held several positions, but mainly President and Secretary many times. She is also a Life Member of that Association, has an honorary Tennis Australian award and has the Section 1 trophy named in her honour.
Kathy plays Pennant for our club both on Saturdays and Tuesdays , and she is also a Selector for both days.
In September there will be an investiture ceremony at Government House. It is here that Kathy will be presented with the insignia of the award.
🏅🏅 CONGRATULATIONS KATHY 🏅🏅
