PRESIDENT’S DAY 2019

It was an afternoon of bowls, food and speeches. This is a special day, a yearly ritual in which we honour and show our appreciation for all the time, effort and work the Bowls President has done. Gary Baird is our very capable 2019 President.

Chairman Peter Letos began by saying how Gary brought back the Mayoral Shield, he is the men’s single champion, and is also on the greens committee. He shows dedication to the club and has respect from all committees. Peter finished with “Well done big fella.”

Vice President of the Bowls Committee Irene Garrett spoke of Gary’s guidance, his dedication, skill and patience, then she mentioned the hours he spends at the club organising people and bowling events.

We all raised our glasses and toasted Gary.

Gary replied by thanking everyone for coming and for members “chipping in,” He especially thanked Kathy Rehe and Irene. Gary said he was humbled and that he had never been on a committee before, but then he wondered why he put his name down again for next year. That statement really got a laugh.
