A VARIETY OF PEOPLE ARE USING DBC
Over the last two days, as well as Wednesday Social Bowls and Thursday’s two sessions of training and team practice, three other organisations have been with us. They have been using the greens and the clubhouse.
A group of young support workers attached to the Blackburn Uniting Church held their awards and presentation day on Wednesday afternoon. Finger food was followed by a try bowls session overseen by John Thorburn, John Nelson and Brian Donovan. Beth Reid supervised the kitchen. These caring young people assist families in need throughout the year including Christmas Day.
On Thursday morning Irene Garrett and the Social Committee Ladies had organised “Blumes” to come for a summer sale showing. A percentage of the sales goes to the club and Irene’s efforts raised $170. Over 20 ladies came, most bought garments, then enjoyed a glass of champagne, sandwiches and sweet Christmas treats for lunch.
Thursday night saw the return of the “Barleycorners.” It was Doncaster’s turn to host them as they move from club to club. No photos or news from that game has been sent to me at time of publication.
Thanks Beth for the information and John Thorburn for photos of the Uniting Church group.
