CLUB ROOMS HIRED OUT ON ELECTION NIGHT.

The Menzies branch of the Labour Party hired Doncaster Bowls Club rooms for the after party for the 2019 Federal Election.

Stella Yee was the local candidate, she attended with 120 members of her support group plus family and friends. The atmosphere was calm then subdued as the evening wore on. The TV screens were being watched intently and a cheer erupted when it was announced that the former prime minister Tony Abbott had lost his seat.

Drinks were drunk, food was eaten, Stella gave a Thankyou speech and many people lingered as the scrutineers arrived from the nearby polling booths. It was not the outcome that the Labour Party had expected.

Thankyou to Eileen McCormack, Sandy McDonald, Tricia O’Connor for all the kitchen help, also to Matt Cursio, Geoff Bandy and  Laurie Hogan who manned the bar and to Peter Letos, John Thorburn and Bernie Mullens who supervised everything. I only knew all of this as I was called in unexpectedly to help at 7 pm……..Lyn.
