Opening night dinner for season 2023-4

Opening night this season was a successful , informative and pleasant evening. Several people canceled at the last minute but there were still 72 attendees.

Trevor Dawson who is now the Executive Chairman told those gathered that the honour boards had been updated, the Manningham Council had agreed to install solar heating on the roof and that through Graham Ferres’ grant application the club had obtained money to buy and install a new induction stove for the kitchen.

Then the Director of the Bowls Committee Tim Fewster explained that the preseason 9’s competition would be on a player rotation basis, he also said that there would be four Saturday Pennant teams , one of which would be a composite with Templestowe Bowls Club, and three teams for Midweek.

The delicious roast dinner was served and when eaten it was time for the Father’s Day raffle.

The five prizes were drawn by Trevor.

The car cleaning kit was won by Leonie Kirby, chocolates by Jeff Mills, the alcohol by Margie Parker, Barbara Benson and by David Thomas who was especially happy with his win.

Tim reminded everyone to write their names down for the Pennant trial/practice matches and also for the social game for the following day.

As it eventuated the weather was so spring-like many people came.
